I have been here before,

But when or how I cannot tell:

I know the grass beyond the door,

The sweet keen smell,

The sighing sound, the lights around the shore.

You have been mine before,

How long ago I may not know:

But just when at that swallow's soar

Your neck turned so,

Some veil did fall——I knew it all of yore.

Has this been thus before?

And shall not thus time's eddying flight

Still with our lives our love restore

In death's despite,

And day and night yield one delight once more?

但说不清时辰和动机：

我知道门前有块草地，

还记得那沁人的香味，

但是，当燕子飞上蓝天，

这种事以前是否有过？

[1]但丁·加百利·罗塞蒂（Dante Gabriel Rossetti，1828—1882），画家、诗人、文学翻译家。其父亲是意大利人，1824年迁居英国。1848年，他与密莱司、亨特等人共同发起成立拉斐尔前派兄弟会，主张绘画应具有宗教道德教育意义和缜密的写实态度。他的诗虽不如画有名，但也颇有成就。诗集有《民谣和十四行诗》。
